Cala di Falco: summer continues until 25 October

In September and October, Gallura still has plenty to offer: quieter, less crowded beaches, boat trips, archaeology and major events, all to be enjoyed at a more relaxed pace.

In Cannigione, the Cala di Falco Resort will remain open until 25 October 2026, offering the perfect opportunity for a late-summer holiday in Northern Sardinia. With a hotel, residence and villas, the resort offers a range of accommodation options in a strategic location at the gateway to the Costa Smeralda, just a 30-minute drive from Olbia Airport.

From here, it is easy to plan a different experience every day: set off by boat to explore the islands of the La Maddalena Archipelago and the bays of the Costa Smeralda, spend a few hours on the area’s most popular summer beaches, or venture inland to discover nuraghi, Giants’ Tombs and other archaeological sites. The still-pleasant weather and more relaxed pace make it easier to combine nature, culture and seasonal events, from major international regattas and sporting events to the Monumenti Aperti open-monuments days.

Back at the hotel, relaxation continues by the pool or on the sun terrace overlooking the sea, before rounding off the day with the flavours of Mediterranean cuisine and traditional Sardinian dishes.

The pleasure of the sea, from beaches to boat trips

September and October bring a different atmosphere: quieter beaches, more space and the pleasure of enjoying the day without rushing. Cannigione beach is just a short walk from Cala di Falco, while the resort’s complimentary shuttle service takes guests to Mannena, a long stretch of sand overlooking the waters of the Gulf of Arzachena.

For those who prefer to explore the coastline from the sea, this is also a particularly pleasant time to board private boats with skippers or exclusive-use RIBs and discover the bays and coves of the Costa Smeralda, the islands of La Maddalena Archipelago National Park and southern Corsica.

From nuraghi to Giants’ Tombs: discovering another side of Gallura

Travel just a few kilometres inland from the coast and another side of the region reveals itself. The area around Arzachena is home to one of Gallura’s most fascinating archaeological heritages.

Highlights not to be missed include La Prisgiona Nuraghe, with its Nuragic village, the Giants’ Tombs of Coddu Ecchju and Li Lolghi, the Li Muri necropolis and Albucciu Nuraghe. It is an ideal itinerary for combining a day at the beach with the discovery of the area’s ancient history.

Sport and major events in Cannigione, Arzachena and Porto Cervo

On 26 September, La Conia, near Cannigione, will host the Techno 293 Regional Championship, dedicated to windsurfing. A few days later, sailing will once again take centre stage in Porto Cervo. From 29 September to 4 October, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda will host the J/70 Cup and Italian Championship, another highlight of the international sailing season following the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and the Rolex Swan Cup, which brought excitement to the area throughout September.

On 10 and 11 October, Monumenti Aperti also returns to Arzachena. Among the experiences on offer is a visit to the “Il Fungo” Monumental Rock, also known as Monti Incappiddhatu, shaped over thousands of years by the elements and now one of the town’s most recognisable landmarks, along with walking routes through the historic centre to discover its most distinctive sights.
