In Northern Sardinia, summer continues throughout September and October. There is still a strong desire for the sea and holidays, but not only that. At this time of year, Gallura offers a rich programme of events ranging from music to cultural happenings and international sports competitions.
For this reason, Resort Cala di Falco in Cannigione has decided to extend its opening until 26 October: an opportunity to dive into the crystal-clear waters of Northern Sardinia and enjoy sunny days on quiet beaches. September and October are also the perfect time for a nature walk to discover the remains of the Nuragic civilisation around Arzachena and, once back at the hotel, to savour the finest Sardinian dishes or indulge in a few hours of relaxation by the pool or on the wooden deck overlooking the sea in front of the resort.
This year, there is one more reason to choose Resort Cala di Falco: from 18 to 25 October, the Gulf of Arzachena will host the European IQ FOIL Youth & Junior Championships, organised by the Arzachena Yacht Club with the support of the Municipality and the Italian Sailing Federation. IQ FOIL is the new frontier of windsurfing and made its Olympic debut at Paris 2024. Thanks to foils, special fins that lift the board out of the water, it is possible to glide even with light winds and reach very high speeds, making the races more spectacular and dynamic.
Thanks to its ideal conditions, the Gulf of Arzachena has been chosen as a prestigious stage for an international event of great importance. Over 400 young athletes from all over Europe are expected in Cannigione, ready to compete in the Youth (under 19) and Junior (under 17) categories. Italy arrives with high expectations. Among the most awaited names is Federico Pilloni, 2024 Youth World Champion, while in the background remains the recent success of Marta Maggetti, Olympic gold medallist at Paris 2024 and already World Champion in 2022.
September in Arzachena will be full of cultural, musical and traditional events. From 5 to 7 September the fourth edition of the Longevity Fest will take place, with screenings, panels and talks between Arzachena and Porto Cervo, including the screening of the documentary Arzachentos dedicated to longevity. On 7 September, at the Giants’ Tomb of Coddu ’Ecchju, the preview of the 29th edition of the international festival Isole che Parlano will be held. From 18 to 21 September the town will celebrate the Patronal Feast of Santa Maria della Neve, with religious rituals, food and wine, and entertainment, culminating on 20 September with Nek’s concert in the evocative setting of Tanca di Lu Palu.
